Free Electronics Recycling Now Available for Ramsey County Residents

Ramsey County residents looking to get rid of laptops, televisions, cell phones or other electronics (e-waste) now have a free and easy way to recycle them. Used and old electronics are the fastest-growing waste in the country and often contain toxic metals like lead, mercury and cadmium. Ramsey County Environmental Health is partnering with Repowered to reuse or refurbish unwanted electronics, and to keep toxic metals out of the environment. All data from electronics dropped off at the e-waste site will be destroyed physically or electronically wiped.

Items accepted for free

  • Computers and laptops
  • Computer accessories (mice, keyboards, speakers etc,)
  • Printers and scanners
  • Cable boxes
  • VCRs, DVRs & Blue-ray players
  • Televisions & monitors
  • Chargers, adapters and headphones
  • Cellphone and tablets
  • Gaming consoles

Items not accepted

  • No light bulbs/lamps, including fluorescent tubes, CFLs, LEDs and incandescent lights
  • No car parts, power tools or solar panels
  • No hazardous waste, including aerosols, paint, chemicals, radioactive materials, etc.
  • No holiday string lights
  • No items with freon, including A/C units, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, etc.
  • No large or small appliances, including microwaves
  • No loose batteries
  • No VHS tapes, cassettes or compact discs
