Silver Lake Bath Mural

Local artist completes mural project

Taylor Berman, a St. Croix Valley artist and educator, was selected by the North St. Paul Arts & Culture Commission to paint a mural on the bathroom building located at Silver Lake Park.

Berman was selected based on his thoughtful inspiration for the art and willingness to engage the community throughout the project.

The concept Berman submitted for consideration by the Arts & Culture Commission features the willow plant and red-winged blackbird, both species that are native to Minnesota and can be observed around Silver Lake. Berman encourages community members to learn more about his project and to watch him work.

Berman has a passion for history and spending time outdoors. Passions that have shaped his work. His work consists of both aesthetic and functional art forms, from printmaking and mural painting to knife-making and fly-tying. His creations are documentation of his learning and thought process as he discovers and explores new places, visual languages, and various aspects of the natural world.

Residents have responded very positively to the project and many had the opportunity to interact with Berman while he worked on the project. Berman plans to attend the City's Autumn Arts Festival on Saturday, September 16 where he lead a bird house painting activity.
