Contractor Licensing Requirements
Contractors working in the City of North St. Paul must be licensed by the State of Minnesota. If you will be performing any
- Commercial work
- Masonry and brickwork
- Sign installation, repair including electrical signs
If you do not have a license from the State of Minnesota you must apply for a Contractor License from the City of North St Paul and provide a Certificate of Insurance. All contractors working on mechanical systems must be licensed by the City of North St. Paul.

The City of North St. Paul will
- Review your permit applications and zoning permits if necessary
- Verify your State of Minnesota license or City license application
- Confirm fees and collect payments
- Issue the permits
- Provide an Inspection packet with more instructions and your permit posting
