Yard waste collection is a weekly service for residents available mid-April through mid-November (weather permitting). Yard waste is picked up on the same day as your regular garbage service.
Yard Waste service will begin for the season the week of April 17 and will end the week of November 13
Yard waste is an annual cost that is billed monthly for the entire year. Residents who want the yard waste service added to their garbage and recycling service will be charged an additional $7 per month throughout the entire year.
Also, residents who add and pay for yard waste service may put out up to 5 additional paper composting bags per week alongside their City-provided container. Please note, our hauler will only accept approved paper composting bags which can be purchased from several retailers in the area.
Once you register for yard waste service, North St. Paul Public Works will deliver a 95-gallon cart to your residence.
To add yard waste service to your garbage and recycling service you can:
Yard waste is defined as leaves, grass clippings, branches, and soft-bodied plants such as garden debris. We ask you to place all yard waste loosely into your cart. If you choose to bag your compost, it must be in paper bio-degradable bags. Plastic bags will not be accepted.
If there is any trash mixed in with your yard waste, the carrier will not empty your cart. It will be the homeowner's responsibility to remove the trash from the container so the carrier can pick it up on your next regularly scheduled pickup day.
State law states that you cannot mix yard waste with other trash. It is against City Ordinance to rake leaves into the street or to burn them, and you may be fined.
